The Improving Education through Accountability and Evaluation: Lessons from Around the World conference that I attended in Rome in early October 2012 released their papers and presentations about accountability experiences and perspectives from around the world. The conference was sponsored by the Istituto Nazionale per la Valutazione del Sistema Educativo di Istruzione e Formazione (INVALSI); the University of Maryland School of Public Policy (UMD); the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM); the Ministero dell’ Istruzione dell’ Università e Ricerca; and the European Commission Directorate-General of Employment, Social Affairs in Rome, Italy.
