Harkin proposal for revision of NCLB has arrived

Harkin has released his Strengthening America’s Schools Act of 2013. A re-authorization of ESEA and revision to NCLB. I will try to produce Cloaking Inequity’s analysis in the next few days.

I am in Brazil for meetings at the Senate in Brasilia, so internet and time has not been easy to come by the past few days. Although I did visit Iguazu Falls yesterday.

  1. The early reports indicate that Harkin’s bill has high stakes tests as the primary means of accountability… Money for testing to prove what we already know…

There seems to be something for everyone in the proposal. Talk about a budget buster from the Fed. from a conservative point of view! How can something like this get passed with the House blocking everything that might give the (Black Guy) African American President credit? With that bunch in control of the House, a group that just makes stuff up to suit their ideology it seems impossible. Also, with these conservatives in the house it all really seems to be about race and mindless austerity and at best, this can only be a starting point. Look at the latest out of Philadelphia, PA where a prison replaces schools! That’s tell it all how these conservatives think! Nice try Sen. Harkin but I just don’t see it happening.
