I blogged yesterday that Linda Darling-Hammond is leading education transition for President-elect Joe Biden. Today, the Biden US Department of Education transition team was released.

I have had conversations with about half of the team over the years. I even went to college with one of the team members. I just looked at the LinkedIn profiles for those named and the backgrounds seem to be a departure from the Obama years. Looking forward to seeing the results of their work. I appreciate their commitment to education and stepping up to volunteer for such an important national role.

Representation matters – a lot. Is anyone on this list an advocate for: a) Special Needs b) Parental involvement c) Technical High Schools d) Post education support for young adults who need help reaching their full potential?

I do not see any representation for Early Childhood Education. I hope there is still a spot for someone from this field.

Are there any actual current classroom teachers in this list or will any be added? All levels need to be represented.

  There are many former classroom teachers on this list. However, there are no current classroom teachers on the US Department of Education transition team.
