One of the most important things we can do as scholars is help the next generation navigate the academic journey.

Today, I’m joining Dr. Cheryl E. Matias from the University of San Diego for a conversation hosted by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division K on Navigating the Academic Job Market.

Having served as a professor, dean, and provost, I know how challenging and sometimes mysterious the faculty hiring process can be. We want to help demystify that process, share lessons learned, and answer questions from emerging scholars.

We’ll talk about preparing applications, interviewing, understanding what search committees look for, and positioning yourself for a successful academic career.

Here’s my ask: If you know a doctoral student, postdoc, or emerging scholar who is considering a faculty career, please send them this opportunity today. Sometimes a single conversation can open doors, build confidence, or provide the guidance someone needs at just the right moment.

📅 TODAY, Thursday, October 15, 2026 🕛 12:00 PM Eastern | 9:00 AM Pacific 💻 Register: https://tinyurl.com/DIVISIONKJOBMARKET

Let’s make sure the next generation of scholars has access to the insights, mentorship, and professional networks they deserve.

Please share widely with your graduate students and colleagues!

Please share.
